Icons
HârnWiki uses icons in the headers of pages in the Works namespace to show the nature of a particular work's content. It also helps to differentiate works:
pages from “World” pages like those in the Hârn namespace.
For example, the heading of the Kingdom of Kaldor page looks like this.
Kingdom of Kaldor
The first icon on any page indicates one of the two canon publishers or that the work is fanon. Hovering your mouse over that icon above should show the label, “Columbia Games, Inc.” Clicking on it will bring up the Columbia Games, Inc. icon reference page for more information.
The second is the icon for works regarding Kaldor. You may already recognize the background color from CGI's many articles on that kingdom. All realms in the Hârn region share the same shield icon but have different colors taken from their respective works.
Many more icons represent all the categories into which works are divided. These follow the different series in which the publishers organize them, and a few more categories were made for fanon that wouldn't fit. Hovering and clicking work the same with all.
But while a work's page may be in one place determined by the main category, it can have several icons. An adventure set in Kaldor will have both Adventures and Kaldor icons. It may have more than that too, if there is a Manor in Kaldor detailed or a Bestiary entry, or the like. The contents should be seen at a glance.
Icon overviews
Several pages provide ways of seeing all the icons in use.
- Icons summary collects the descriptions of each icon reference page onto one.
- Icons key gives a way to navigate all of the icon reference pages.
- Realm-specific icons key does the same for the realm-specific icons, like the “Manor in Kaldor” one mentioned above. Links to them are included in the main Icons key, but this fills the right sidebar with them too.
For editors
Wiki editors working with icons may find these links handy.
- Works icons conventions seeks to provide a guide for consistent icon usage.
- Icons coding tabulates all the code snippets for pasting into pages or even creating new icons.
- Realm-specific icon coverage shows all the realm-specific icons present and gives quick access to them.
- New works icon procedure is a step-by-step guide for making a new icon and tying it in with all the summary pages.
