Icons

These are the icons in use in the headers of pages in the works: namespace. OK, maybe not all of them are in use at the moment, but they're ready if needed. These are a special case as opposed to more general icon usage, like in the navbar or works subnamespace sidebars: those are simply invoked with the Icons plugin, while these have a lot more going on.

This page documents all of the icons currently in use. A key to individual icons may be found here.

Hopefully, their usage by editors has been made straightforward. In the tables below, use the Include plugin with the page link given for each icon. For instance, the Columbia games icon can be displayed with {{page>icons:cgi&inline}}.

As part of a complete heading, a bit more is needed. In this case, the Wrap plugin is used to form the line of relevant icons by including them in an icon-line class. For instance, the code below will produce the heading shown.

All of these colors have been made customizable to admins through the Template Style Settings page.

Kingdom of Kaldor

Generally, there won't be much more than that needed. However, icons have been generously provided for, even should they never see use. One does not have to go nuts depicting every aspect of the work in question. There are tags too, after all. Still it could be nice to draw attention to the fact that, say, the adventure, Keep on the Borderlands, includes a sizeable writeup of Laket Keep.

The canon and fanon icons from the right sidebars are used here as well, the checkbox for the canon and the fan for the fanon.

As to fanon works, the present editor is tempted to use the Lýthia colors generally, since that is far and away the primary source. A suitable color scheme with the same icon could be envisioned, but it is feared that the folks at The Melderyn Campaign will have, uh, bigger ideas about this sort of thing…

And yes, it's Christmas, and the present editor is presently buzzed.

As you see, all use the same icon with the difference being in the background colors taken from the page headers in the works themselves. Further, Rethem has been given a black icon to make it more distinct from Chybisa. Evael too, as well as the one for the Hârn region as a whole, but that is more for the purpose of visibility. This will be done in the ones below too, as needed.

Unfortunately, the colors here aren't as well established. Columbia works extant seem to use the same shade of blue, save Rogna in black, and Keléstia often uses the same colors in each work unless they're using a crop from the cover artwork. Guesses have been made where the default blue has been changed, and perhaps they can be made meaningful in the wiki.

These are for the world most works are set in, the continent most works are set in, the subcontinent most works are set in, and two other subcontinents that has seen some attention. These do not need to be included in all of those works; they are for the broadest overviews.

The three regions beyond Hârn that have been mapped by Columbia are treated here. They may not have seen much development in actual products yet, but it seems like a good idea to provide for them. For the most part though, broad regional works can be given a Kethira icon until the overwhelming mass of material on a particular area forces accomodation.

For now, each region has been given the color scheme used for Core works here, taken from Spines & Covers for “HârnWorld”“, and the icon is repeated for each realm in that region. Heavens, is there a less useful tag than HârnWorld? It's all HârnWorld! In that spirit, these icons are for works about the regions as a whole and do not need to be tacked onto every work that is set there.

The other colors have been improvised, as Keléstia doesn't color their page headers in the same way that Columbia does and many of these nations don't have canon works devoted to them yet. Colors have been taken from module covers, where they exist. Some of them are a minor element of said color (Menglana, for instance), and some are from a different graphic inside (Emelrene from the Dhéria-Ísvan's headgear). Failing that, they've just been assigned arbitrarily; they are also customizable via the Template Style Settings.

This section isn't sure what it wants to be yet. First of all, not every castle needs a castle icon, and so on. It's usually right there in the title. However, some adventures contain writeups of keeps or manors, and these could be useful there to signal the dual nature of the work in question. “Abbey” includes chapterhouses, “Mine” includes other guildmaster-run thorps and encampments that aren't quite manors, and “Location” refers to works on a place within a city, castle, etc. or a dot on the map that doesn't fall into one of the other categories.

Yes, there aren't really any cities in Orbaal, but iterative processes have a logic all their own.

The colors and icon combinations have been developed to some degree, but there may yet be gaps. These are mostly a convenience though, and other combinations can be created directly like this, cribbing the relevant bits from the various icon pages extant.

====== Keep on the Borderlands ======

Some works consist primarily of maps. There are three series of atlases showing a closer look at 25-league squares, and there are fanon works consisting of a manor map or several, a castle floorplan, a house, etc. As above, these have the same icon in different color schemes, a general one matching the wider icons above (perhaps customizable to location) and a scheme for each atlas.

This section has seen a bit more differentiation than is probably called for, but the fanon seems to coalesce around a few themes. Perhaps it's overkill, however. Use at your own risk. At the very least, articles with a good dose of game system content can get the appropriate HârnMaster icon added to the others.

That manors one in particular seems silly and maybe interferes with the Manor location above, but then there's that small bit of material comprising HârnManor, IviniaThran, and ThardaVilla. This is here for that, right now.

This and the next section are often for composite works, blending world lore with game system. They also may see little use, at least in their full elaboration here. Still, they've been developed so that they won't be found later to kill the whole icon concept with a dearth of suitable images.

These are the shek-pvar convocations of magic, and they may adorn the odd article with a chantry or a work on spells, accenting other icons that give these enough context to show how they are meant.

This section too straddles the world/master line and has been elaborated beyond all plausible need, but if it inspires just one person to develop a Halean abbey it will not have been in vain. Yes, the Laranian motif in the overall icon may betray bias, but then, well, doesn't that make it all the more appropriate?

At some point, one runs out of ways to group what remains and simply throws the lot together. This is that point.
