Tags
Tags are used by this wiki to provide another way of grouping pages that can cross namespaces, allowing one to find such pages together. You can see the tags near the top of each page that has them, a row of small buttons like some tag beside the page address box.
For instance, castles in Kaldor are already shown together on Kingdom of Kaldor, and each of those pages has several tags like one for the work's publisher, one for Kaldor, and one for a castle. This way, clicking on the castle tag opens a page linking all of those Kaldor castle pages as well as pages for castles everywhere else.
In addition to that outward use, tags perform an inner function too. Start pages for each sub-namespace under works:
, like Chybisa works, access the index of tags and present lists of works organized under several headings. This makes finding relevant works easier, and it makes the task for wiki editors of keeping those lists up-to-date easier too.
Tags vs. icons
While tags are similar to Icons, there are differences in how they're used. There are more tags and they can be applied more liberally. Works like Pilots' Almanac shows a particular divergence: one icon for the entire region of Hârn is duplicated by the tags, which then go on to tag each realm too.
Unlike icons, tags can belong to different namespaces (which are not the same as page namespaces). This allows works to be tagged with the works:kaldor
tag, and they won't get mixed up with pages in other sections about the kingdom. For instance, “World” sections of the wiki may use kaldor
or harn:kaldor
tags to create their own lists of links, and they won't show up on any of the lists in the works:
pages. Those other kaldor
tags haven't actually been developed at the time of this writing, but they've been future-proofed.
Tags search
The Tag plugin provides a way to search for pages with one or more particular tags. That form can be found at Tag search.
